1. Learner Welfare, Psychological Services, and Special Needs
This department is dedicated to the holistic well-being of the student. It ensures that barriers to learning are identified and removed, fostering an inclusive environment for all.
- Special Needs Education: Providing tailored support and resources for learners with physical or intellectual disabilities.
- Educational Psychology: Offering counseling, career guidance, and psychological assessments.
- Social Welfare: Managing the BEAM (Better Education Assistance Module) to support vulnerable children and ensuring child protection protocols are followed.
2. Curriculum Development and Technical Services
Focusing on the “what” and “how” of learning, this department drives the implementation of the Heritage-Based Curriculum 5.0.
- STEM Promotion: Enhancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics initiatives across district schools.
- Vocational Training: Overseeing technical subjects such as Agriculture, Woodwork, and Home Economics to equip learners with practical skills.
- ICT Integration: Leading the digitalization of classrooms and ensuring both teachers and students are tech-literate.
3. Quality Assurance and Standards (Inspectorate)
This unit acts as the “watchdog” for educational excellence, ensuring that national benchmarks are maintained in every classroom.
- School Inspections: Conducting routine and spot-check visits to monitor teaching quality and administrative efficiency.
- Teacher Professional Standards: Monitoring educator conduct and pedagogical delivery.
- Compliance: Ensuring schools adhere to the Ministry’s regulations regarding fees, enrollment, and infrastructure safety.
4. Human Resources and Administration
The backbone of the district office, this department manages the “people power” that keeps the education system running.
- Recruitment & Deployment: Managing the placement of teachers and administrative staff in schools.
- Staff Welfare: Handling promotions, disciplinary issues, and leave records.

6. Non-Formal Education (NFE)

- Part-Time Continuing Education (PTCE): Providing a second chance for out-of-school youth to sit for Grade 7, O-Level, or A-Level examinations.
